Trees and Rivers

So I finally got around to going out the front and taking some photos of the new trees we put in. The over hang on these will look really nice once it gets going...I just don't know if I'll still be here to actually see that...some drive-by's might be in order in future years :)

Unfortunately one of the branches snapped while we were bringing it home. We tried a temporary fix, but unfortunately we'll have to let it go.

On a kind of exciting note, we now have a sold sticker on our block of land!! HOORAY!! It's still quite a while until we'll actually own said block of land, but the time is already going along quickly. It's almost the end of January, so we've only got 7 months to go. It's even less of a time frame when we're aiming to have our house on the market by late April/Early May...that's only a couple of months away in which we've still got a bit of work to do. The next task out the front is getting the front path finished, then finally the crushed rock. Then we're all done and on to the backyard!

Also while I was at Mandalay I noticed it was kinda wet...kinda very wet to the point where we have small rivers running along the grooves where the roads will be. Who says you need to spend thousands on a beachside property!

Plants Are In

n some wonderfully hot weather Mum, Dad and I got to put some plants into the garden beds. Saying me is a bit of an over statement as I was feeling sick from all the heat so I mainly cleared bark away so that holes could be dug in.

I left about half way through to get Ash, but by the time I got back it'd been finished. We're just waiting on the trees to put in now, as they didn't have any of the advanced ones in stock yesterday when we pick up all the plants. Hopefully they'll be here in the next day or two.

Finally, this is from when we were filling the bark, but it highlights how stupid our dogs are:

Bark

All of our chipbark arrived today. We originally thought it was coming yesterday afternoon, but it came today instead. Wasn't all bad as I had the day off work so I was able to work on it.

Not much to tell really...the bark came, we shovelled it into the boxes, and that is all. We're going to hold off on buying the plants and trees until next week (Monday most likely) as we've got a string of pretty hot days coming up. Thought at this stage is to maybe plant them on Monday night when it cools down a bit and allow for the rain on Tuesday to help out.

All Framed Up!

Today we finally got all our framework 100% completed!

Got up early enough and got to work on cutting up the wood to form the inner boxes. This was probably the easiest of all the things we've done so far. I learnt to cut the wood on a 45° angle and then we just drilled it all in place and made sure it was level.

When I was off at work mum and dad filled up the boxes with more dirt from the backyard so that we don't need to put as much chipbark in.

Also went down and ordered the chipbark. Got black for the bigger areas and red for the inner/smaller boxes.

And once again, the dogs helping out

Looks Like A Something Now

Today dad and I finished up the main framing in the front yard and it's really starting to come together now. We've still got to take all the old dirt that was in the front (Currently residing in the back yard) and fill up the frames to bring the levels up a bit. That'll get done over the next few days and then we can insert the smaller frames in the middle and also top off with the chipbark/stones.

All in all progress is being made :)

Also today Mark collected all of our financials so that he can get pre-approval for the land loan. Hopefully that won't drag out for too long.
